In 2017 Wicked Wales is pleased to be working with our partners YOUNG DOGS in Germany and Rhyl 6th College and West Rhyl Young People’s Project in Wales to deliver this most exciting documentary film making exchange programme between young Welsh and German filmmakers aged 16-20.
Every year YOUNG DOGS organises an international documentary project for young people. In 2016 they had an exchange with Belgium and in 2015 Greece. We are delighted that for 2017 the invitation came to Wales.
Vera Schöpfer YOUNG DOGS says” The exchange project Arrivals and Departures brings together young people from different social backgrounds and with different skills, talents and interests, who could now experience the power of teamwork through working with film”

We are grateful to the Welsh Broadcasting Trust for supporting this important project which will be managed in Wales by our Festival Creative Director Dan Thomas from Film Culture

Dan Says “This programme will allow 12 young people in both countries to spend 8 days in each others Country and undertake
an intensive course of film activities with structured outcomes, which
will enable them to develop knowledge and skills. In providing access to different culture and practices through the work with film we also aim to dismantle prejudices and boundaries.

This collaboration is testament to the importance of the Youth Cinema Network YCN which provides opportunities for Festivals and Media organisations to meet together and discuss the development of international projects such as this, working with trusted partners.
